Buckeye Book Fair Literacy Grants
Buckeye Authors' Book Fair Committee Inc was created as a 501(c)3 nonprofit entity in 1987. Its mission is to promote works by Ohio authors and to support literacy efforts in the state by providing grants to schools, libraries, and literacy programs. The Buckeye Book Fair has been celebrating the literary life of Ohio for over twenty-five years and has returned nearly 10% of all revenue to further enhance literacy in the state.
From providing seed money for programs designed to foster and encourage a love of reading, to providing funds for enhancing and updating book collections in classrooms and libraries, the Buckeye Book Fair has awarded over $211,000 in grants to more than 260 organizations since inception.
Funds for the grant program are raised through the one-day book sale where nearly 100 Ohio authors autograph books for thousands of readers.
Proposals for literacy grants are to show new and creative ways to improve literacy within a specific group and demonstrate financial need.
Teachers, Librarians, and Literacy Program Directors Are Invited to Apply for $500 Gift Certificate Grants
Teachers, librarians, and literacy program directors may apply for gift certficates of $500 to purchase books from the annual Buckeye Book Fair. Grants of up to $500 in books will be awarded to Ohio schools and public libraries for the enhancement of their book collections; or gift certificates totaling $500 will be awarded to individuals of classrooms and literacy programs for the promotion of reading.
Applications are open to Ohio literacy programs, Ohio public libraries, and Ohio elementary and secondary schools both public and private.

In evaluating grant applications to determine the recipients, the committee will consider the impact of the grant, the financial need of the applicant, and evidence of careful planning in preparing the grant project.
The deadline for grant submissions is September 30th. Winners will be notified by mail or email no later than October 15th.
