Applications are open to: Ohio reading programs, Ohio public and community libraries, and Ohio elementary and secondary schools both public and private. Proposals for Buckeye Book Fair literacy awards are to have a special project using books by or about Ohioans and to demonstrate financial need.

In evaluating applications to determine the recipients, the Buckeye Book Fair Literacy Awards Committee will consider the impact of the project, the financial need of the applicant, and evidence of careful planning in preparing the project.
